KIPS BAY — Tom Colicchio's highly-touted restaurant Riverpark may seem out of the way on East 29th Street near the East River, but it's making the most of its waterfront location with is newly-opened 72-seat terrace.
Executive chef Sisha Ortuzar is whipping up Mayan prawn cocktails, Manila clams, oyster tacos and fried chicken with biscuits and black pepper honey for the al fresco dining scene at 450 E. 29th St. To cool down, there's watermelon with lime and sea salt or mango-coconut popsicles.
The outdoor space at Riverpark, located in the located in the glass biotech complex, the Alexandria Center for Life Science, is already a hit.
It "might be my new fave outdoor spot for pitchers (good beer & cheap!) and oyster tacos.. and burgers...," tweeted Jane Sweeney last week.
"Sea salted watermelon, where have you been all my life?" asked @michpils in a Tweet.
