Matt Damon, Foursquare Awarded at Gracie Mansion

UPPER EAST SIDE — Actor Matt Damon and Foursquare were among those awarded Monday night at Gracie Mansion.

The unlikely duo was honored as part of the 6th Annual Made in NY Awards, which celebrates contributions to the city’s entertainment and new media industries.

"New York City is the entertainment capital of the world, the talent capital of the world and the media capital of the world, and tonight we honor some of those who help make that so," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a statement.

The Damon-Bloomberg connection dates back to 2009, when the actor endorsed Bloomberg’s third-term run for mayor of New York City. More recently, Bloomberg made a cameo appearance in Damon's sci-fi flick "The Adjustment Bureau."

The other honorees included comedian John Leguizamo, who is currently starring on Broadway in "Ghetto Klown," MoviePass Inc. Co-Founder Stacey Spikes, production company Smuggler, and NBCUniversal Entertainment Chairman Lauren Zalaznick,

Legendary film director Sydney Lumet, who recently died, was also awarded the the first-ever "Made in NY Mayor's Award for Lifetime Achievement." His films include "12 Angry Men," "Network" and "Dog Day Afternoon."

Past honorees include "30-Rock" star Tina Fey, cooking sensation Rachael Ray and actress Edie Falco.
