MANHATTAN — The Tompkins Square Park ping pong table will be cleaned of graffiti by Wednesday, the Parks Department said.

Graffiti tags showed up on the recently-installed ping pong table over the weekend. A Parks Department spokesman told DNAinfo on Tuesday that the agency was aware of the graffiti and that it would be cleaned off by Wednesday.

The table was installed in late March. It was a gift from local company Henge, which manufactures all-weather outdoor tables for public use.

Ping pong players over the weekend took the graffiti in stride.

"It sucks that [this table] was vandalized," said 25-year-old East Villager Carlos Rodriguez, who squared-off against his friend Jonathan Lee on Saturday. "But that's New York City, man."
