CHELSEA — The High Line's much-anticipated second section will finally open to the public next Wednesday.
The new segment will take the elevated park's reach ten blocks to the north, from its current cutoff near West 20th Street all the way to West 30th Street, where Friends of the High Line are planning a summer gathering space for food, drinks and activities.
This zone was originally slated to open in fall 2010, but was subject to construction delays.
Patrons of the former rail line still have a long wait ahead for the debut of park's final section, snaking up to 34th Street. The northernmost part of the High Line received land use approval from the city last summer.
