UPPER WEST SIDE — A sweets shop is headed to the Upper West Side, but it's not Dylan's Candy Bar.

A start-up baked goods and chocolates store called Sugar & Plumm Purveyors of Yumm plans to open on Amsterdam Avenue and West 78th Street — where the New York Post reported that Dylan's Candy Bar would be moving — a company representative said.

Alberina DiPilla, controller at Sugar & Plumm Purveyors of Yumm, said the Upper West Side location will likely open sometime this fall, after Sugar & Plumm opens its first store at Bergen Town Center Mall in New Jersey.

Rumors have swirled for months that sugar-centric Dylan's, founded by designer Ralph Lauren's daughter, Dylan, was moving into several empty storefronts on Amsterdam Avenue between West 78th and West 79th streets.

A publicist for Dylan's denied the Post's story Monday, saying the company was focusing on new stores in Miami and Los Angeles.

"As much as we would love to sweeten up the Upper West Side, Dylan’s Candy Bar’s Flagship on 60th and 3rd will continue to be our only NYC location," said a post on the company's Facebook page.  "We may not be expanding to Manhattan’s West Side, but we are thrilled to say we will be opening new doors on the West Coast and in Miami too!"

Some have speculated that Sugar & Plumm could be a division of Dylan's.

But DiPilla said there's no relationship between the two shops.

"We have nothing to do with Dylan's," DiPilla said.

Sugar & Plumm is more than a candy store, DiPilla said. The shop will sell freshly baked pastries, sweets and chocolates in front, and run a full-service restaurant in back, DiPilla said.
