MANHATTAN — A man fell two floors down a shaft in a New York University building Tuesday, the FDNY said.

The man fell at 10.20 a.m. at 7 East 12th St.

The building is set to open in the summer and will serve as the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, according to NYU's website.

A university spokeswoman said the building is still under construction and there were no students there.

The man, who was a construction worker, fell from the 10th floor to the 8th floor in the shaft, which is used to contain pipes, said a Department of Buildings spokesman.

He said the man then had to crawl back up the pipe to get out.

The DOB is investigating the accident.

The FDNY said the the man was taken to Bellevue Hospital. He is not thought to be seriously hurt.
