MANHATTAN — Madewell opened its flagship Manhattan store Tuesday in the Flatiron District.
The women's clothing brand owned by J. Crew already has a SoHo location, but the new one takes over two levels and 6,500 square feet of space in the landmarked building at 115 Fifth Ave. at East 19th Street.
"New York, New Store: Madewell Lower Fifth Avenue is now open," the company tweeted.
Madewell specializes in jeans, but also describes itself as being "Effortlessly cool, totally original and full of downtown-chic essentials," according to the company's Twitter feed.
The building retains its 19-foot windows and original Corinthian columns, Racked reported.
