MANHATTAN — Police have arrested 11 more bus drivers Friday for using fake names to obtain commercial driver licenses.

The governor's office announced Friday that an ongoing investigation by the state Department of Motor Vehicles led to arrests of 11 drivers who obtained multiple driver licenses using aliases.

Two drivers were arrested Thursday for the same offense, the governor's office added.

The driver of the Chinatown-bound bus that crashed in the Bronx on March 12, killing 15 passengers, had his license suspended last week after a state investigation revealed he allegedly lied about the status of his license, possibly to cover the fact that he had been using multiple aliases and had a suspension under one of those names.

Seven of the drivers arrested Friday work for bus companies based outside Manhattan, mostly in Brooklyn and Queens, while the other four work for the MTA, the governor's office noted.

Each has been charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree and falsifying business records in the second degree.

Two passengers riding on the bus that crashed in the Bronx also filed multimillion-dollar lawsuits this week against the bus company and driver for negligence.

A federal investigation into the crash is ongoing.
