MANHATTAN — Police say they've nabbed the man suspected of scaling walls to rob four buildings on Columbia University's main campus.

James Sinkler, 48, was picked up by police in his hometown of Albany on Wednesday. Sickler allegedly knocked off four buildings in late December and early January, police said.

The incidents occurred in the Fayerweather, Schermerhorn, Pupin and Hamilton buildings, all of which are academic as opposed to residential, according to the NYPD.

Police said Sinkler had entered the buildings by climbing through windows.

The 48-year-old Albany man has five previous convictions in New York State for burglary, attempted burglary and robbery, according to the state inmate look up system.

In a January interview with the Columbia Spectator, Columbia's Vice President for Public Safety James McShane said the robbery suspect was known to police, having recently been released from jail for a previous string of robberies on the Columbia campus. It was not immediately clear whether Sinkler was the man he was referring to.
