MIDTOWN — A Queens woman was stabbed to death by her ex-husband in a Midtown beauty salon near Macy's Herald Square Thursday afternoon, police said.

Denise Kenny, 41, of Rockaway Park, was working in D'Galina's Salon Spa at 161 West 35th St. when her ex-husband Michael Kenny, 42, stormed into the salon just after 3:30 p.m. and demanded to speak to her in private, according to police and reports.

The pair went to the store's upstairs bathroom, where they got into a heated argument, police said.

Salon workers told the told the New York Post that after the couple went upstairs, they heard arguing, followed by a bloodcurdling scream.

Salon owner Leo Pinkhasov, 51, told the paper Kenny "looked at me with crazy eyes" as he left the store, hitting the cash register and his ex-wife's purse for cash as he fled.

Pinkhasov then went upstairs and found Denise Kenny slumped on the toilet, covered in stab wounds, the Post reported. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead, fire officials said.

Michael Kenny had allegedly threatened his ex-wife more than a year earlier, leaving her a menacing voicemail message in which he claimed, "Just remember what I tell you: If you ever leave me, the things I can do to you," a police source told the Daily News.

Denise Kenny had taken out a restraining order against him following a Jan. 2010 attack in which he allegedly choked her in their home, but Michael Kenny violated the order repeatedly, the News reported.

The News also reported that Kenny was arrested 17 years earlier for trying to murder his first wife by chasing her down a Queens street with a gun.

Michael Kenny is described as six-foot-one and 230 pounds, with blonde hair, blue eyes and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black wool coat, blue jeans and blue hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
