EAST VILLAGE — The expected East 14th Street location of popular West Side chain 5 Napkin Burger appears headed for a late-summer opening.

"It's a great neighborhood and a beautiful corner, and we're excited to work there," said 5 Napkin partner Robert Guarino, who confirmed that his restaurant group inked a lease for the sprawling 3,570-square-foot space at the corner of Third Avenue.

A press release from Winick Realty Group, which brokered the deal for 5 Napkin, stated that the new outpost would open by April. However, Guarino said a late-summer 2011 opening was more likely given that the ground-floor space still needed to be built out.

He did leave open the possibility that another of the group's stable of restaurants — including French Roast in the West Village and on the Upper West Side, Nizza in Hell's Kitchen, and Café D'Alsace on the Upper East Side — could replace 5 Napkin at that location.

"We're still not 100-percent committed to that specific concept, but it looks like that's definitely in contention," he said of the burger chain, which has locations in Hell's Kitchen, on the Upper West Side and in Astoria, Queens.

Representatives from the restaurant group received approval for a liquor license at the East 14th Street location from Community Board 3 last October.
