MANHATTAN — Seafood eatery Choptank’s meal service in the Village may have come to an end, but the legal battles for the men behind it are just beginning, Grub Street reported.

Choptank owner Josh Morgan has slapped his ex-partner — and longtime friend —Bobby Werhane with a lawsuit, according to Grub Street.

The two-year-old restaurant, which offered fare influenced by the pair’s Chesapeake Bay upbringings, closed in December due to water damage, Grub Street reported. But its failure to reopen has more to do with Werhane’s "financial improprieties," Morgan’s suit alleges.

In a statement obtained by Grub Street, Morgan claims that his partner "committed, among other things, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, corporate waste and unjust enrichment."

Werhane, on the other hand, released a statement to Grub Street saying that he was "disappointed and frustrated" and calling the lawsuit "malicious and meritless."

Werhane also recently opened Italian restaurant Spasso, while Morgan hopes to hold on to the Choptank brand and eventually reopen, Grub Street reported.
