UPPER WEST SIDE — Neighbors of Lincoln Center complain the litany of diesel generators keeping Fashion Week running could be hazardous to their health, the New York Times reported.

The event, which moved to Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park last year, relies on nine diesel generators to power the fashion tents during the shows, the Times reported.

"The noise, the fumes — I smell it all day and all night," Violetta Ungar, a resident, told the Times.

Although the generators used by organizers run on low-sulfur diesel, critics said that they still lack diesel particulate filters that would lessen the amount of pollution emitted, according to the paper.

Officials with IMG Fashion, which runs Fashion Week, said they had not received any complaints about the generators.

Organizers added that they run an eco-friendly show, with energy-efficient lighting and ventilation systems and recycled tents from year to year, the Times reported.

"We're very proud of our team and vendors' continued efforts to be green and are striving to grow those efforts each season," said Zach Eichman, a spokesman for IMG told the paper.
