EAST VILLAGE — Coyote Ugly will reopen Friday after its recent shuttering because of Health Department violations.

The notorious bar, on First Avenue between 9th and 10th streets, has been closed since Feb. 15, according to the DOH's website. The Department listed a series of violations, including "evidence of rats or live rats present in facility's food and/or non-food areas."

The DOH also said there was evidence food being "adulterated, contaminated and cross-contaminated."

Workers in the bar on Thursday afternoon said Coyote Ugly would be back in business Friday.

Coyote Ugly has been open since 1993, according to their website, and has how 11 locations across the country.

A Department of Health Sign on the door of Coyote Ugly said the bar was closed on Feb. 15 for health code violations.
