MIDTOWN — At a boat show, bigger is better.

The biggest yacht at the 106th Annual New York Boat Show — a 47-foot long, luxury Sunseeker Portofinosold in the first few hours of the week-long event Wednesday.

An undisclosed buyer purchased the $1.1 million yacht, which is the same brand as those frequently featured in James Bond films.

"This is a Bentley," said Peter Liverzani, the boat's captain.

"These are all sleek and sexy boats," he said of the streamlined Sunseeker yachts, which are manufactured in England.

Organizers of the boat show expect around 50,000 visitors to check out the yachts, sports boats, waver runners and vendors exhibiting at the Jacob Javits Center through Jan. 23.

Tickets to the show are $12 for adults, and children under 15 get in for free.

Boat companies generate between 33 and 50 percent of their yearly sales at shows like the New York Boat Show, said Carrie Waible, a spokeswoman for the show.

Over the five-day run, boating fans will get the chance to meet Russell Newberry from the show "Deadliest Catch," and check out an exhibit on the history of American.

While there was no shortage of boat supply vendors at the show, Priscilla Ardrey was the only vendor selling nautical-theme jewelry.

One of her best sellers at the show was a blue wave design necklace.

"If you're selling jewelry, everybody's in a good mood," Ardrey said.
