MANHATTAN — Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the New York Jets will go all the way to the Super Bowl this year.

Bloomberg made the prediction on his daily radio show Friday.

"The Jets are going to the Super Bowl. You heard it from me. The Bloomberg prediction," he said, according to the New York Post, adding, “I don’t want to jinx them.”

Of course in order for the mayor to be right, Gang Green and quarterback Mark Sanchez will first have to best the heavily favored New England Patriots in Foxboro, Mass. at 4:30 on Sunday.

The Patriots, and quarterback Tom Brady’s four touchdown passes, embarrassed the Jets 45 to 3 in the teams’ last match up in December.

"It's the biggest butt-whuppin' I've ever taken as a coach in my career," Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan said of that game.

The winner of Sunday’s game will play the Baltimore Ravens or the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship to be held Jan. 23.

The Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 6.

"All this stuff is good," Bloomberg said. "Sports, even if you don't like it, your livelihood depends on it, your tax rates depend on it. We want New York teams to be successful."
