MANHATTAN  — An 86-year-old woman was the latest victim in a string of motorized wheelchair thefts when her $1,000 scooter was stolen as she visited an Upper East Side church on Thursday, according to reports.

Elinor Krach rode her red "Victory" scooter to the Jan Hus Presbyterian Church on 74th Street Thursday morning, but while she was inside, two women picked it and put it in the back of a green van with Pennsylvania plates, according to the NYPD.

Police had little hope of catching the crooks, even with the plate number, as this was one of a string of recent crimes in which the property was rarely found because the vehicles used in the crimes were also stolen, the Daily News reported.

Despite having to borrow a spare scooter from a friend, Krach seemed to be turning the other cheek.

"Nobody's sick. I didn't get hit by a car," Krach told the News. "You have to look at the things that could have been. For my own sake, I just try to make peace with it."
