MIDTOWN — New Yorkers will have the opportunity this weekend to bid on an intimate piece of infamous Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff's private life — his underwear.

The U.S. Marshals Service will auction off nearly 500 items of personal property that used to belong to Bernie and Ruth Madoff, including his monogrammed velveteen slippers and her 10.54-carat engagement ring, according to the U.S. Marshals office.

Other items that will be included in the auction include a Steinway grand piano with a bench, a miniature bronze statue of a bull, more than 15 Rolex and Cartier watches, and Bernie's boxer shorts.

Auctioneers at Gaston & Sheehan will run the auction, which will take place online and at the Sheraton New York Hotel on Seventh Avenue on Saturday morning.

Proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the victims of Madoff's multi-billion dollar fraud.
