MANHATTAN — Police are on the hunt for five suspects in a series of Morningside Heights muggings, some of which occurred in broad daylight on densely populated street corners.

The crime spree began on Sept. 12, when the thieves ran up to a 44-year-old woman at West 110th Street and Broadway, snatched her cell phone from her hand, and fled, police said.

On Sept. 29, the suspects were at it again, knocking a 20-year-old woman to the ground in the heart of the Columbia University campus, on West 116th Street between Amsterdam and Morningside Drive, and stealing her cell phone, according to the NYPD.

They carried out three more attacks in the area throughout the month of October, mugging two men within a week near West 110th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, punching one of their victims.
