Manhattan — The Mayor of New York thinks the USA is being run by a bunch of fools.
Mayor Bloomberg told the Wall Street Journal the latest crop of politicians are small minded, ignorant people who don't know anything of the world outside America.
"If you look at the U.S., you look at who we are electing to Congress, to the Senate, they can't read," he told the newspaper while in Hong Kong attending a summit.
"I'll bet you a bunch of these people don't have passports. We're about to start a trade war with China if we're not careful here — only because nobody knows where China is."
The outspoken mayor's blunt remarks, which are apparently aimed at the Republican party which picked up 61 House seats and six Senate seats in last week's midterm elections, offended some.
"That's a very foolish statement," Republican Ed Rollins told the Daily News.
"He has no idea who those people are. The world is more than just billionaires. Sometimes there is an arrogance on the mayor's part, and this just shows it."
Staten Island Tea Party founder Frank Santarpia told the News, "The mayor once again tries to portray people with common core principles as stupid.
"It's so indicative of the smug intellectual elitism that defines progressivism."
