MANHATTAN — Park Avenue's Waldorf Astoria was sued for $13,000 last week by a Nassau County mother who alleged that her 6-year-old daughter picked up bedbugs from the highbrow hotel, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Susanne Igneri filed a complaint saying that the family got bedbugs after their Feb. 20 stay at the Park Avenue hotel, where her daughter stayed on a roll-away bed, according to WSJ.

The complaint states that 6-year-old Sophia experienced "permanent scarring to her face, legs, stomach, groin and body" from bed bug bites, and that the experience left her with "psychological and emotional injuries, anxiety and disordered sleep," according to WSJ.

In a statement, however, hotel officials said they didn’t know anything about the lawsuit, but that "the management of the Waldorf Astoria takes the issue of bedbugs very seriously as the safety and comfort of our guests are our top priorities," WSJ reported.

On Wednesday, Abalon Exterminating Co., hired by Waldorf, wrote a letter saying that "all areas of the room were inspected with no evidence of any infestation found," WSJ reported.
