WASHINGTON — A man was killed and another is hospitalized following a brutal double stabbing in Washington Heights Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call found the two victims about 3:55 p.m. on the second floor of 736 W. 181st St., the NYPD said.

The first victim, 33, was stabbed multiple times in the head and chest and pronounced dead on arrival at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, police said.

The second victim, 43, was stabbed once in the torso and brought to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The NYPD roped off West 181st Street from Broadway to Fort Washington and the adjacent Bennett Avenue, between 181st and 183rd streets, for hours late into Tuesday night.

Twitter user Akorn342 said that police were still on the scene well past 10 p.m.

"Bodega guy says it was a stabbing or shooting on 181, w/1 dead & suspect escaped," Akorn342 tweeted. "Not sure how reliable."

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
