MANHATTAN —Just days after the 10th Precinct sent out a crime alert about a string of Chelsea burglaries, another break-in may have been added to the list, police said.

A man, shown in video footage released by the NYPD, stole credits cards and computer equipment after entering the apartment of a 27-year-old man through a window about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 6. Police declined to release the address where the crime occurred.

Police said the burglary "may be linked" to the nine break-ins at Chelsea residences in an area bordered by 17th and 21st streets, along with Seventh and Tenth avenues that had City Council Speaker Christine Quinn handing out flyers earlier in the week.

The homes of Chelsea residents on vacation had in particular been targeted, Quinn said.

"We want it to stop, and we want to help residents do everything they can to make it stop," Quinn said Monday.

To that end, the NYPD and Quinn are urging area residents and commercial tenants to take extra precautions in securing windows, dead bolting doors and avoiding the appearance that they are away on vacation.
