INWOOD — It’s another no to alcohol on Dyckman Street.

Community Board 12 strongly voted against recommending a liquor license for Noemi Juice Bar at a meeting Tuesday night, in which the stretch of bars and restaurants was dubbed "alcohol alley."

The board voted 34-1 against a wine license, despite owner Noemi Gonzalez' pleas that the lack of interest in her current business model necessitated the switch from juice to alcohol.

“I just want to succeed,” she told the board in Spanish.

Assemblyman Denny Farrell has urged the board to vote against any new liquor licenses on Dyckman Street.

"'Alcohol Alley' is already terribly overcrowded with bars, restaurants, nightclubs and bodegas that are licensed to sell alcohol, Farrell wrote to the State Liquor Authority on Sept. 28.

"The bad effects of the party atmosphere created by this free-for-all are harming the quality of life blocks away.”

Even without the board’s approval, Gonzalez could still receive a license from the State Liquor Authority, as the board only serves in an advisory role.

If Noemi Juice Bar moves forward with its application, it will have to receive a waiver from the SLA’s so-called "500-foot-rule," which limits its ability to issue liquor licenses when there are existing licensed establishments within 500 feet of the applicant’s location.

Each application for a new liquor-serving establishment that falls under this rule must be reviewed individually by the SLA, with community input.
