MANHATTAN — A Long Island woman heading to Penn Station after a day of shopping in Manhattan was dragged into a parking lot and raped early Monday morning, the New York Post reported.
Paul Smalls, 43, of Brooklyn, who has a long rap sheet including attempted murder and weapons charges, was arrested for the attack on the 39-year-old woman, the paper said.
She had spent the weekend in New Jersey, the paper said, and arrived back in Midtown to do some shopping before heading back to Long Island.
She was grabbed from behind at about roughly 1 a.m., the Post reported, and was dragged to a parking lot where she was reportedly raped.
After the attack, the woman ran to Penn Station and Amtrak police were able to arrest the suspect quickly based on her description of his striped shirt, according to the Post.
Smalls was arrested on charges of first-degree rape, and is being held on $75,000 bail after his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
In 2006, he was arrested for beating up two women in Brooklyn, punching one, kicking the other and burning her lip with a cigarette, the Post reported.
