MANHATTAN — Mayor Michael Bloomberg joined a vacationing President Barack Obama for a game of golf on Martha's Vineyard Friday.

The president invited the billionaire mayor to join him on the links at the Vineyard Golf Club, a private golf course in Edgartown, Mass.

Before teeing off, the two took 15 minutes to discuss business, according to a pool report.

"The President and Mayor Bloomberg took the opportunity to discuss plans for short- and long-term economic growth at a pivotal point in our recovery," said White house spokesman Reid Cherlin.

Completing the foursome were Washington power broker Vernon Jordan and Marvin Nicholson, the White House trip director.

Though the two men have met on many occasions, this is the first time they have played golf together.
