MANHATTAN — Police believe accused Riverside Park Rapist Hugues Akassy may have attacked other women and are asking any other victims to come forward.

Hugues Akassy, 42 of Washington, D.C., allegedly lured a Russian tourist he met at the Time Warner Center to Riverside Park for a picnic and then raped her Tuesday.

He was charged with rape and sexual abuse on Thursday, and is being held on $100,000 bail, police said. Law enforcement sources said he may have attacked other women.

Akassy and the Russian woman reportedly had a picnic near the 79th Street Boat Basin on Tuesday after meeting and exchanging contact information at Time Warner Center on Sunday according to the New York Post.

Police are asking any other victims of Hugues Akassy to call the Sex Crime Unit's Hotline at 212 335 9373.

After eating at the park, Akassy allegedly told the woman he wanted to take her to see an area of the park with a scenic view. That's when Aksassy allegedly raped her, police said.

The attack is the latest in a series of brutal attacks in Riverside Park. Police are still searching for a man who mugged two women last month in broad daylight.

Anyone with information about Akassy has been asked to call the Manhattan DA's Sex Crime Unit at 212-335-9373.
