MANHATTAN — Chris Simms, the quarterback son of Giants legend Phil Simms, was busted on West Houston Street for allegedly driving while stoned early Thursday morning.
The Tennessee Titans player had his pregnant wife in the car with him when he was pulled over at 1 a.m. by a police officer who noticed he had red eyes and slurred speech, according to a New York Criminal Court report.
"I was smoking marijuana in the car earlier," prosecutors said Simms told cops, according to the court documents.
No drugs were found in the car and his wife, Danielle, was allowed to drive off, the Post said.
"My client never admitted to smoking marijuana that night. He said he was smoking cigarettes that night," said Simms’ attorney, Nathan Semmel, at the football player's arraignment.

He also said there were two additional passengers in the car.
"The DA should investigate whether those two individuals were responsible for the marijuana odor," Semmel said, according to the Post.
Phil Simms, who played 14 seasons with the Giants, was named the MVP of the Super Bowl in 1986. He currently works as a television analyst for CBS.
Chris Simms signed with the Titans in April after being released by the Denver Broncos. Simms, who currently lives in Nashville, grew up in Northern New Jersey and graduated from Ramapo High School in 1999.
