MANHATTAN — It was like a scene from the old west — with a distinctly New York twist.
Times Square's Naked Cowboy, given name Robert Burck, sent a cease-and-desist letter to the self-proclaimed "Naked Cowgirl," a former stripper whose been serenading tourists in a scantily-clad American flag bikini and cowboy hat, the New York Post reported.
Burck claimed the older imposter, who used to close her exotic performances by lighting her breasts on fire, stole his shtick – demanding that the weathered entertainer give up her cowgirl routine or sign a "Naked Cowboy Franchise Agreement," according to the paper.
"If she's going to sell stuff and make money off of it, then, yeah, she's going to have to pay," Burck told the Post.
While the idea may seem ridiculous, at least one other performer, Naked Cowgirl Louisa Holmlund, pays the franchise fee or $5,000 a year or $500 a month, the Post said.
But Times Square's newest naked songstress, Sandy Kane (a.k.a. Sandra Brodsky), wasn't budging.
"It's not like he's Tim McGraw or Keith Urban," the 50-something New Jersey native protested to the Post.
Besides, Kane explained, "I've been naked for years."
