MANHATTAN — Mayor Michael Bloomberg is saving paper after trading in his thick daily briefing book for a new iPad.

The mayor told people gathered at a Staten Island meeting on Tuesday night that his new Apple tablet computer saved him time and eliminated the need for paper, but he was still fumbling with the touch screen.

"I put some notes on it [that] normally I have on my cards," Bloomberg said according to the Daily News. "Right away, I just went zipping off to the wrong place."

Apple announced on Monday that it has sold two million iPads since the debut of the tablet cumputer in April, more than double the number of iPhones sold in the same period after its launch.

The international launch of the iPad had to be delayed by a month as Apple struggled to meet demand.
