MANHATTAN – The Yankee banner is flying high thanks to one die-hard fan, astronaut Garrett Reisman.

Reisman, a 42-year-old mission specialist on the Shuttle Atlantis, was photographed during a Monday space walk 250 miles above the earth with the team’s iconic logo prominently displayed on the left glove of his space suit.

Reisman, who reportedly drew the logo on his glove himself, also put the number “27” on his equipment in celebration of the team’s 27th championship win last year, the New York Post reported.

"That's my boy!" Reisman’s mom, Sheila, told the Post. "If I was up there, I would be wearing a Yankees patch, too. We are big Yankees fans."

On his maiden voyage in April 2008, Reisman thrilled Yankee fans when he was broadcast on the stadium's JumboTron throwing the first pitch ever from outer space, during a game against the Red Sox, the Daily News reported at the time.

"From Earth's orbit," he told the News, "but still deep inside the Yankees universe, let me say, 'Go Yanks!'"
