INWOOD — Thousands of New York City residents volunteered their time and their brawn in an effort to beautify Manhattan parks this weekend.

There was no shortage of help in Inwood on Saturday, where community members and elected officials lent a hand to keep parks ranging from Bruce's Garden, a memorial space for a Port Authority officer who died on 9/11, to Isham Park and Inwood Hill Park clean and welcoming.

This weekend marked the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation's 15th annual "It’s My Park Day," an event where residents volunteer their time to clean their local parks.

Fort Tryon Park will host its own "It's My Park Day" event on May 23, Sunday.
