MANHATTAN — A 77-year-old man is in critical condition at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital after a garbage truck crashed into his car at Broadway and West 218th Street in Inwood on Tuesday.
The man, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla, made a left turn onto 218th from Broadway around 12:45 p.m. when a sanitation truck traveling south on Broadway crashed into the side of his car, police said.
“The driver was making an illegal left hand turn” from Broadway onto W. 218th Street said 34th Precinct Commander Jose Navarro told the Manhattan Times. “In all likelihood he didn’t see the sign.”
The sanitation worker who was driving the truck sat on the median looking stunned while the ambulance rushed the man to the hospital, The Manhattan Times reported.
