FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Punk rockers, craft brewers, unicyclists and more are coming to Governors Island this summer.

Island officials just released a packed schedule for this season, with programs targeting every demographic.

Country star Rosanne Cash will ring in Independence Day with a free concert July 4, a performance that is sure to contrast with the Punk Island festival two weekends earlier.

For children, top events include free weekend workshops run by the Children’s Museum of the Arts, a kite giveaway July 17 and a unicycle festival Sept. 4.

Adults may prefer NY Brewfest, a craft beer celebration June 19, or the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic June 27, an event that last year featured Prince Harry.

Foodies will have reason to make the seven-minute ferry trip to Governors Island for the Sixth Annual Vendy Awards Sept. 25. Carnivores may also enjoy Meatopia, a July 11 barbecue featuring 30 New York chefs, while vegetarians might prefer to visit the island's 3-acre organic fruit and vegetable farm, which is open all summer.

Last year’s popular Water Taxi Beach will return for another season, with a lineup of free and paid concerts that has not been announced.

Governors Island is open Friday through Sunday starting June 5. Ferries leave from the Battery Maritime Building, next to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal.
