MIDTOWN EAST — Cheap-chic clothing store Uniqlo is nearing a deal to open second outlet on pricey Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Crain's New York reported.

The Japanese-based clothier was close to signing a lease to occupy the space at 666 Fifth Avenue, at 53rd St., on the most expensive retail corridor in the city, Crain's said.

Uniqlo, which specializes in moderately priced staples with eccentric touches, opened its flagship SoHo store on Broadway in 2006.

The store's specials, which last month included a deal for free tailoring on $15 jeans, will contrast some of its high-priced Fifth Avenue neighbors, like Roberto Cavalli, Ermenegildo Zegna and Fendi.

The three-floor Fifth Avenue space will offer Uniqlo more than 70,000 square feet, Crain’s added.

Representatives with the brokerage firm Cushman and Wakefield, the building’s leasing agent, did not comment on the deal Thursday.
