BATTERY PARK CITY— The Annual Tunnel to Tower Run was approved by Community Board 1 on the condition that there are no fireworks, bands or other loud noises associated with the race this year.

The annual September race honors Firefighter Stephen Siller who died on 9/11 after running on foot with his gear through the Battery Tunnel trying to save peoples lives.

The race begins in Redhook, Brooklyn, travels through the Battery Tunnel and it finishes in Battery Park City. This year it be run without any fireworks, bands or amplified megaphones near the residential areas.

“We have no problem working with the community, and we are happy to make little changes,” said Frank Siller, Stephen's brother, who is the Chairman of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
