MANHATTAN — An argument over a loud radio playing in the kitchen of the Algonquin Hotel restaurant led a waiter to stab a sous chef and a host with a butter knife, according to news reports.

Waiter Jesus Payano, 43, was arrested on Sunday for getting into a fight with sous chef Christopher Goodwin when the chef shut off the waiter's radio, the New York Post reported.

The fight allegedly escalated and Payano ultimately stabbed Goodwin in the hand with a butter knife. Host John Sierra tried to break up the fight, but wound up sustaining wounds as well.

Goodwin denied hitting Payano and was not charged, but hotel officials believe that it was Goodwin who threw the first punch.

Payano is free on $1,500 bail.
