MANHATTAN — In his Monday night monologue, comedian Conan O’Brien addressed rumors that he and NBC have drafted a ceasefire agreement saying, “It’s been widely reported I can’t say anything negative about the network.”

But that didn’t stop him from firing away to start what many outlets are reporting is his final week at the helm of "The Tonight Show."

“Luckily folks,” he continued, “They’re not saying I can’t sing anything negative about the network.”

“Morons, incompetent morons,” he sang in a falsetto tone. “These people are morons, ladididdy.”

O’Brien reportedly only has four days left to get in his shots at NBC before the very expensive late night divorce is final. The talk show host is slated to walk away with $32.5 million, TMZ.com reported Tuesday morning.

If he moves on to Fox or any other network, as has been rumored, his earnings will be deducted from NBC's payout, TMZ.com said. NBC would also keep the rights to O'Brien's character creations, including Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, according to TMZ.com.

Meanwhile, Jay Leno toned down the attacks, telling his audience that "we should have an answer tomorrow" about whether he is going to return to his former 11:35 p.m. "Tonight Show" time slot.

Leno also explained his side of the time switch story and said he considered O'Brien a "great guy,” but said there was nothing but the ratings to blame for the snafu.

"If you don't get the ratings, they take you off the air," Leno said. "I think you know this town, you can do almost anything. You get ratings, they keep you. I wasn't getting the ratings, he wasn't getting 'em, that was NBC's solution."
