A joint search rescue team from the FDNY and NYPD gave hope to devastated Haitians early Sunday when they pulled a 13-year-old girl and two men out of the rubble of a grocery store, police said.

Trapped in a collapsed three-story building, the victims had survived by eating food from the grocery store in Port-au-Prince that collapsed after Tuesday's earthquake, Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said in a statement.

The girl suffered a broken leg, whle the two men have undetermined injuries, police said. They are being treated at a United Nations hospital, Browne said,

About 26 New York police and firefighters from the Urban Rescue Team worked throughout the night to free them after their voices were heard by rescue workers about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
