Yum's the Word, a storytelling series that features spoken word amid a birthday ice cream cake-filled party with balloon animals and other prizes, is teaming up with rock musician Lachi for a Hurricane Sandy benefit.

A portion of Friday night's event proceeds will benefit GOLES.org, or "Good Ole Lower East Side," a Lower East Side nonprofit group. Storytellers include Sue Galloway of 30 Rock, and SNL Weekend Update; Adam Linn of Sex and the City, and Smell the Light; and Scott Whitehair, a story slam winner from The Moth.

The doors open at 6:00 p.m. at Webster Hall 125 E.11th Street, and the storytelling begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

The event, hosted by Robin Gelfenbien, will also include a guest appearance by Brooklyn DJ iLLspokinn, as well as a performance by the rock group iPhonic.
