"Neon Baby," a new musical at the Pregones Theater, is inspired by the life of Bronx "b-boy and muse" Juan Rivera, runaway who became immersed in the New York drag scene and eventually served as a muse to pop artist Keith Haring.

The musical follows Rivera, who performed drag as Juanito Xtravaganza, and other young men of color as they found themselves and others like them in the city's 80s and 90s gay scene.

An original Pregones Theater production conceived and directed by Jorge B. Merced. Performed in English and Spanish with supertitles. Recommended for mature audiences.

The play begins at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
