Margaret Roach is a former newspaper and magazine editor who left the corporate world in 2007 to focus full-time on gardening, about which she has written multiple books.

After many years working for Newsday, the New York Times and Martha Stewart Living, Roach wrote a "corporate-dropout" memoir in 2011 called "And I Shall Have Some Peace There."

Her most recent book, released in January, is called "The Backyard Parables." She also maintains a popular blog, "A Way to Garden."

Her talk at the historic Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum in Pelham Bay Park costs $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students and is free for members.

A reception and book signing will follow the talk.
