An exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art highlights the interest that Impressionist writers and painters took in the clothing of their time. Approximately eighty major figure paintings exhibit the achievements of the Impressionists in portraying the spirit of their era through representations of fashionable contemporary Parisians.

The exhibition features Claude Monet's Luncheon on the Grass, Édouard Manet's Repose, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's The Swing, and Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day, as well as many others. Paintings are displayed together with period costumes, accessories, photographs, prints, and other objects depicting the styles of the period.

Admission to the exhibit is included with general admission to the museum.
