City College hosts a two-day educational conference on the role of parents in children's education. 

The conference will offer speakers and panels as well as a variety of workshops to inform parents, family members and other educational stakeholders on education policies, parent advocacy and improvement in the public education system.

The first day of the event will feature speakers including New York State Board of Regents Chancellor Merryl Tisch, City College of New York Interim Provost Dr. Maurizio Travisan, NYC principals, teachers and parent coordinators and others. The second day will feature workshops for families and educational advocates on the "best practices" for parental involvement in their children's education.

Additionally, there will be a forum for possible candidates running for borough and city-wide offices to address issues of educational policies and answer questions from parents and educators.

Invited guests include Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, City Comptroller John Liu, Public Advocate Bill DeBlasio, former Comptroller Bill Thompson, former Community Board 1 Chairwoman Julie Menin, State Sen. Malcolm Smith, Bronx Borough President Reuben Diaz Jr. and Manhattan Media Owner Tom Allon.
