Central Park Park Conservancy and Bloomberg will present a free outdoor screening of "The Shining," the Stanley Kubrick-directed horror film about a writer who becomes the caretaker of a secluded hotel inhabited by a spiritual presence. The film will be shown as part of the Central Park Conservancy Film Festival, a five-day series of screenings of movies of various genres, chosen by popular vote. "The Shining" is rated R.

Admission is free, and registration is not required.  The screening will take place on he lawn between Sheep Meadow and the 72nd Street Cross Drive in Central Park. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 8 p.m.
