Man Wraps Woman in Bear-Hug and Throws Her to Ground in Sex Attack: NYPD

SOUNDVIEW — A man sneaked up behind a woman on a Bronx street, wrapped her in a bear hug, grabbed her crotch and knocked her to the ground, police said.

The suspect attacked the 36-year-old woman from behind outside 1282 Rosedale Ave., near East 172nd Street, groped her before forcing her to the ground at about 10:40 p.m. on Oct. 18, police said.

Once on the ground, he continued to sexually assault her. 

The suspect fled north from the scene, police said. He was recorded on a nearby surveillance camera, police said.

The victim was treated at Jacobi Hospital

The suspect is believed to be 25 to 35 and about 5-foot-6, police said. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a black and gray hooded sweater, blue jeans and black sneakers.
