HELL’S KITCHEN — A man spewing racial slurs struck a woman in the face and told her to “get the f--- out of my country” after he started arguing with her inside the Port Authority in an incident being investigated as a hate crime, the NYPD said.
The 41-year-old victim was shopping at a Duane Reade inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal around 6:55 p.m. on Aug. 29 when a man she didn’t know started arguing with her, police said.
“You are a brown-skinned piece of s--t who needs to get the f--- out of my country,” the man said, according to police.
At some point, the man hit the woman in the face, the NYPD said. She suffered a minor injury and refused medical treatment, while the man fled the store, the NYPD said.
The suspect was described as about 30 years old, weighing 170 pounds and standing 5-foot-10, police said. The NYPD noted that the suspect's photo was only just released due to the difficulty obtaining surveillance video.
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.
A manager working at the Duane Reade on Tuesday said he wasn’t aware the incident had happened.
