NEW YORK CITY — Friday marks the deadline for New Yorkers to register to vote in November's general election or change their party affiliation for next year's primary election.
Those with a valid ID from the state DMV must register online by no later than Oct. 13 for eligibility to vote in the Nov. 7 general election, according to the Board of Elections.
Applications sent by mail must be postmarked by Friday and received by the BOE no later than Oct. 18.
The city's Campaign Finance Board provides an online guide to help voters make informed choices at the polls.
Friday is also the last day applications can be sent to change a voter's party affiliation to vote in the 2018 primary election.
To change parties, voters need to mark their choice on the registration form and send it to the Board of Elections, postmarked no later than Friday.
New Yorkers can check the status of their voter registration and political party affiliation here or by calling 1-866-VOTE-NYC.
