QUEENS — An elderly woman was injured after crashing her car through the front of a 7-Eleven on Metropolitan Avenue Sunday night, authorities said.

The 79-year-old driver, who lives in the neighborhood, was trying to park her 2007 Hyundai in front of the store at 101-04 Metropolitan Ave. around 11:15 p.m. when she accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the break, police sources said.

The car hopped the curb and hit the convenience store, damaging its front windows, officials and witnesses said. No one inside the store was hurt, officials said.

The woman was treated at New York-Presbyterian/Queens hospital for minor injuries, FDNY officials said.

An employee working at the store Monday morning said he was not authorized to speak about the incident.
