Gunman Kills 1, Wounds Pregnant Woman in Weekend Bed-Stuy Shooting: NYPD

By Noah Hurowitz | October 9, 2017 5:03pm

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A Cypress Hills man was killed and a pregnant woman was wounded in an early morning shooting over the weekend, according to the NYPD.

Chazz Manuel, 34, was hanging out in front of 6 Albany St. between Decatur and Fulton streets around 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning when a gunman ran up and opened fire, police said.

Manuel was hit multiple times in the abdomen, and was found unconscious and unresponsive when paramedics arrived, police said. Manuel and an unidentified pregnant woman, who was grazed in the stomach, were brought to Kings County Hospital, where staff pronounced Manuel dead, according to a police report.

The woman, 26, was in stable condition and did not suffer life-threatening injuries, police said.

It was not immediately clear Monday morning if the assailant was aiming for Manuel or someone else, a police spokesman said.

“We don’t know who the shooter was yet, so it’s unclear at this point who the intended targets were,” the spokesman said.

Manuel, a father of three, had a permanent address in Cypress Hills, according to police, but frequently hung out in Bed-Stuy, driving a gold BMW, according to a report in the Daily News.
